Graduation Night

Year six students wait for their certificate and final goodbyes.

Kelvin Road School got together last night to recognise and award exceptional students at the year 6 graduation send off. The year 6s started with a karakia, followed by the Principal's welcome to all the parents, teachers and families. We celebrated the success and dedication of the road patrols who received a certificate by Constable Grant Gamlen, a police officer who works closely with the children at our school. Mrs Smith presented awards to our sporting students, while Mr Naidoo recognised the hard work and commitment of the Library team.

The Mighty Mathex Marvels

Term 4 saw Kelvin Road compete in their first ever Mathex Competition. Both the Senior and Junior school held their own events, which saw each class pit their best maths students in a fast paced race to 25 questions. Each group had four members, with one person nominated as runner to collect the questions. As time ticked by, each team worked together to solve and return their answers to the marker as quickly as possible. The marker checked their answers carefully and a new question was given to the team runner if they were correct. The team's classes cheered them on as excitement escalated toward the final few moments and the countdown buzzer was heard. The judges collaborated and returned with the tally, resulting in a close 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Room 12 came in 3rd place with 17 points, Room 14, second with 20 points and Room 19 knocked up a staggering 21 points to receive this year’s 1st place and first ever Mathex cup title.
